Updates from Ukraine
We have some very serious prayer needs coming to us today from Ukraine.
Please join with us in lifting these needs to the Father!
Olya Lazar: This is the young 14 year old girl that fell from the balcony on
the youth retreat and is in a hospital in Yaremche. She is doing very well.
Her grandmother is with her now and she is keeping in good spirits, if a
little restless as well. The doctors are supposed to take more x-rays today
and that will help them to know how compressed (or uncompressed) the
vertebrae are. If everything is healing well, then she may be allowed to
come home on Friday (with bed rest here for a few more weeks). If not, then
she will stay for another week there in the hospital.
Petya & Natasha Lyusov: Petya is the pastor of our church in Berdyansk.
Natasha is pregnant and due on 29 January. The baby has a hole in the
intestines about 2-3 cm wide (1 inch) and the intestines are coming out.
Their doctor here in Kyiv thinks they have a good chance to save the baby.
Volodiya Khursin, at the board meeting the other night, said that in the US,
there is about a 98% success rate on saving these types of pregnancies. Here
in Ukraine, it is about 50%. Please pray for Petya, Natasha, and this young
baby.
Andrei Lurin: Andrei is the pastor of our church in Mariupol. He has had a
heart condition for quite a while in which two of his valves do not open
fully. He is supposed to receive treatment once a year by going to a
hospital for a 3-4 week visit (receive shots and other meds). However,
Andrei has not been for this treatment in several years. This past week he
was up in Kyiv for a pastor's meeting. He told Bob that he was feeling worse
and worse and he really needed to go in sometime for this treatment. Please
pray for him.
Lyuba Zaripova: This is Sveta's sister and Natasha's (secretary's) mom.
Doctors discovered a massive tumor in one of her breasts and it appears that
the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. There was some debate as to what
to do but it looks like today (Monday) Lyuba will begin radiation therapy,
then have surgery, then continue with radiation therapy. I don't know how
many sessions she will need prior to surgery or when the surgery will be. We
are going over to Lyuba's apartment this morning at 8:00 to pray with her
before she goes to the doctor. She is in desperate need of a healing touch
from God. Natasha, Sveta and their mom, Anna Pavlovna, are really having a
rough time with this right now. It is especially tough on Sveta who will be
at NTS this weekend for the next three weeks. Please pray for all of them.
