CIS Prayer: Prayer Update
Greetings Prayer Partners!
Once again, it has been quite some time since we have shared with you what is
happening on the Field. There have been so many exciting events that we get
overwhelmed -- and sometimes behind as well.
Ordinations -- On March 9 we had the very first Ordinands on the CIS Field.
Dr. Paul Cunningham was present and ordained three pastors on the Russia
South District. This was a day of rejoicing!
Prayer Request-- Please pray for these leaders as they continue to develop,
and take on more responsibility on their district.
Education -- The people in Volgograd have been overwhelmed with the number of
courses they have had in the last six months. In an effort to help several
of our students graduate from the program we ran them through an intensive
period of courses. The students put forth a great effort and in March, Dr.
Corlis McGee, rector of European Nazarene College, came to the Russia South
District Assembly and awarded four students with Christian Ministry
Certificates -- graduating them from the extension program! What an exciting
day.
Prayer Request -- Please pray for us as we try to offer courses at 9
extension centers throughout the CIS Field. We need the strength to keep
them going -- and at times, we need to find the professors to help us with
the courses.
Induction/Commissioning -- Our first national pastor was inducted as pastor
of our church in our Creative Access Area. They also participated in their
very first District Assembly. Please pray for this pastor and his wife as
they lead the church in their area.
Compassionate Ministries -- The European portion of the CIS Field had a
Compassionate ministries conference in March. Approximately 25 people
attended from Russia, Ukraine and Armenia. Roxanne Alexander provided
training sessions on utilizing compassionate ministries as a tool for
evangelism.
Prayer Request --Please pray that our NCM workers will take to heart what
they have learned and apply it in their respective areas. Please pray
especially for Roman in Vinitsa, Ukraine. He is operating a new
Rehabilitation center for Drug addicts and recovering alcoholics. Please
pray for our upcoming Medical Work and Witness team which will be traveling
to St. Petersburg, Moscow and Volgograd during the first week of May.
Church Planting -- God is providing us with opportunities for many new
churches. However, each one carries its share of difficulties. Please pray
for the following new sites:
Gumri, Armenia -- pray for Karen as he leads our work.
Vinitsa, Volin, Brezhna Volya, Odessa and Krapivna in Ukraine -- please pray
for our national leaders and District Superintendent, Bob Skinner and Cliff
Wright as they work in these new areas.
Yefimovsky, Ulyanovsk, Krim, Vaskino, and Nizhny Gnutov in Russia. Most of
these new works are being planted by national workers. They need your
prayers and support as these works are begun.
Astana and Almaty, Kazakstan -- please pray for Michael Park, District
Superintendent of the Central Asian district as he works in church planting
in new sites around these major cities.
Summer Activities
Please pray for all the work and witness teams that will soon be coming to
the field. Please pray for the staff and people that will work with them --
that the Lord will use it to His glory. We will also have numerous camps
throughout the Field. Please pray for those as well.
We appreciate your prayers so very much. Thanks for taking the time!
