Subject: January Prayer Requests
from Ukraine
Dear Friends,
Greetings from cold and snowy Kiev.
After the slower pace of the holiday season we are now back to the usual pace
and there are many prayer requestst to share with you:
-Please pray for Cliff Wright, Bob and Colleen Skinner and our Ukrainian
pastors Svetlana and Vladimir as they are flying to the US on January
15th. First of all they will attend the annual CIS partnership meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Please also pray for this meeting when some of the missionaries from our field
and a group of individuals who are especially interested in supporting the work
of the Church of the Nazarene in the countries of the former Soviet Union
gather to receive a firsthand update on the work and as they discuss ways to
support the ministries here on the field.
-Cliff, Vladimir and Svetlana will then begin their next intensive term at
Nazarene Theological Seminary on January 20th. They will be joined by some
other students from Russia
and Roxanne Alexander.
-Cinda Kammerman our missionary colleague assigned to St.
Petersburg, Russia
arrived a few days ago to help us for a few months by teaching English classes
here in Kiev as well as in Vinnitsa. We hope that this will not only be
a ministry to the church people but bring in some unbelievers into the church.
-The church in Vinnitsa
requests prayer for the completion of the remodeling of the church building and
the ministries of the rehab centre and Christian cafe. Also for the development
of leaders and for the health of the pastors wife, Oksana.
-The church in Khmelnitsky
needs a building and funds to purchase it with.
-The Berdyansk church is looking for a place and workers for a rehab center and
they request prayer for the health of the pastor's wife, Natasha.
-The Miusinsk church asks you to pray for the children's work and for people
not to sin. They need wisdom on how to deal with the authorities and have
financial needs for repairs and construction of the church building.
-The new church in Vapnarka needs a building and leaders in order to minister
to alcoholics, drug addicts and homeless people. They pray for the church
membership to grow tenfold this year. They also request prayer for the
salvation of the president and parliament of Ukraine.
-Kiev First Church asks you to pray for the development and growth of the
Sunday School, for the preparations for next summers children's camps and for
unity in the church.
-The new church in Saki asks for prayer for the spiritual growth of the church,
for people to come to know the Lord and for the ministry of the rehab centers
for men and women.
-Some of you share our prayer requests with the children in your churches.
Perhaps they might like to pray for the missionary children (Robbie Skinner,
Jonathan and Kristen Wright) who have exams at school Jan 13 to 16th. Also
Kristen is very sick today with a stomach bug. Michael Skinner's class (4th
grade) just got a new teacher. Her name is Tricia Stolley and she is a student
from Point Loma Nazarene
University doing some
student teaching until the end of the school year. Please pray for her as she
gets settled in.
Thank you to all of you who pray for us and the work of the Church of the
Nazarene here in Ukraine.
