Last Prayer of the Millennium!

Dear Prayer Partners,

It is Friday afternoon here in Moscow. We are preparing for the evening and
the celebrations here in town. We will be standing on Red Square when the
clock strikes midnight tonight. We have been watching as New Zealand and
Australia have celebrated the New Year and so far no Y2K glitches. It's not
encouraging that the news reports say that they'll be watching closely to see
what happens in China and Russia. Therefore, we're trying to get this note
off before anything might happen tonight.

Just to make the day more exciting, President Yeltsin went on TV this morning
and announced his resignation. There's always something interesting in this
part of the world!

The Lord is good and we have praises and prayer requests!

1) The Christmas worship service in Astana, Kazakstan was terrific. Around
400 people attended the service, held in the city's house of culture. The
Parks were thrilled with the response.

2) The new church building in Akkol, Kazastan was dedicated and had their fir
st official service just a few weeks ago, with 150 people present ---
standing room only! On Christmas they had 120 in the service. They are
having 2 services on Sunday mornings now and are averaging 100 in attendance.
We praise the Lord for what He is doing!

3) Wounded soldiers from the war in Chechnya are being evacuated to
Volgograd. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries has been invited to come into
the hospital and visit these soldiers. Recently a music team from the
churches there in Volgograd went into the hospital and sang for the soldiers
and Andrei, one of our Pastors shared with them the Good News!

4) One wounded soldier from Siberia had his leg severely damaged in the
fighting. The hospital could find no one locally to sponsor him for his
operation. They contacted the NCM office in Volgograd and asked if we could
help. The young man has now had the surgery on his leg and he is being
fitted for a prosthesis, thanks to NCM.

5) The son of our Pastor at the Seven Winds church in Volgograd was released
from the Army. He had been sent to Chechnya to be in the fighting. He has
just returned home and we are so grateful. Please pray for his recovery. He
is very thin, as they were barely fed during their time of service and were
never paid.

6) The "Good News" Church in Viasma, Russia had it's first service just two
weeks ago. On the first Sunday 33 people were present. They are praising
the Lord. First Church in Viasma, the mother church was full to the brim
again that Sunday. We are praying for completion of all permission to build
a larger facility on the land there this coming summer. Nearly all documents
have been completed, except for the signature from the Mayor's office.
Please pray for this completion!

7) The registration in Volgograd is still not completed. On Wednesday
evening officials called the church and asked for a representative to come to
their office. All of the registration documents were returned and they
suggested another way to register and to return on January 5. Please pray
for January 5 as we are hoping for the registration to be completed.

8) The congregations in Moscow met together on January 25 for a combined
Christmas service. We praise the Lord for His presence and the spiritual
growth of the people during this past year.

9) Please pray for the churches in Kyiv as they will celebrate Christmas on
January 7.

10) The St. Petersburg congregation and community was treated to a special
hot meal for Christmas just two Sunday's ago. A church in the US had
generously donated funds to provide this special hot meal. The people of the
congregation and the community were so pleased. We are certainly grateful
for the support of our friends around the world!

Thanks so much for supporting us with your love and prayers. May God bless
you in this coming year.

The folks in the CIS.
