Work & Witness in the former Soviet Union |
| |
Have you thought about using your God-given skills for
the Lord?
Work and Witness gives you the opportunity to do construction,
evangelism, medical work and any other types of services needed in the
former Soviet Union. The CIS is 12 time zones wide and its vitality and
chaos are a direct result of the collapse of Communism and an effort of
its citizens to reinvent their lives. Each ministry site is limited by
their facilities and willing persons to use their talents. Work and
Witness will not only change the lives of those you come in contact
with, but it will change yours, too! |

Kazakhstan |
Astana -- Kazakhstan's new capital is a more central and less
earthquake-prone location and has better rail links with Russia among
its advantages. It's a friendly and fairly low-rise town, with some
attractive tree-lined streets, but prone to strong steep winds. The
Parks have opened the work in Kazakhstan. A Jesus Film team is actively
working in the region north of Astana and now there is a great need to
build new church buildings.

Russia North District |
St. Petersburg, Russia -- created by Peter the Great as his "Window to
the West," is Russia's most European City. This city, which was to have
been more beautiful than Venice, has all the culture and beauty of any
city in Europe. We have purchased two apartments in downtown St.
Petersburg to serve as a Ministry Center. Carpenters, painters and
willing hands are needed to remodel this facility. |

Moscow, Russia |
Moscow's origin as a symbol of Russian spiritual and political power
goes back 850 years, so it's no surprise that today the city is the
barometer and nucleus of the changes sweeping through Russia. Here you
will find many opportunities for Work and Witness. The Youth Center,
located one hour south of Moscow needs to be completed in the coming
year. The Youth Center will eventually provide facilities for 100 people
at a time for study, conferences and camps.

Viazma, Russia |
Three hours and two tanks of gas to the west of Moscow, this city is
older than Moscow. This city of 70,000 now has two Churches of the
Nazarene and both are filled to capacity. In the summer of 2001 we will
be adding a sanctuary to the Good News Church of the Nazarene in Viazma.

Russia South District |
Volgograd, Russia -- Formerly Stalingrad, its industries include
shipyards, oil refineries, steel and aluminum mills. In World War II it
was virtually destroyed and thousands were killed before German forces
surrendered. Volgograd, a city on the Volga River, is steeped in Russian
history. It is a city that has the look and feel of old Russia. The work
in the Volgograd and Southern Russia area has grown rapidly and we
currently have a number of new church building projects.

Ukraine District |
Kyiv, Ukraine -- The heart of all "Rus" is found in Kyiv, where
Christianity was established in the year 1988. This country, rich in
culture is also a place alive with spiritual growth. The renovation of a
two story building for a Ministry Center is of great importance to the
Field. The work of the church is expanding to areas East and West of
Kyiv. New projects include a church in Mariupol and Berdansk. |

| Destination Ukraine
was born in the minds of several Nazarene laymen upon returning from
Ukraine work and witness trips in 2003. DU is an attempt to encourage
laymen to actively participate in missions and ministry within the
country of Ukraine. Our mission statement is simply stated: |
